37 windows in a 120 year old house
We have recently installed 37 windows in a late Victorian house in Wiltshire. The clients chose Cottage Style windows with high security PN Hook Espag Security Locks.
The fitting was completed in 5 days which pleased our clients but they were especially delighted with the 9 arched first floor windows which copied the 120 year old originals perfectly.
A month after the project was completed we spoke to the couple again who told us “We are happy with the quality and service we received and are impressed by the stainless steel hinges used. There was minimal re-decoration after Oaktree had completed the installation. Hopefully the fitting of these double glazed windows will reduce our annual heating bill.”
Myths of owning a Grade II listed property
Myth: You can’t fit double glazed windows to a Grade II building.
Myth Busted: Yes you can.
Creating a workable balance between the conservation of period buildings and the provision of energy efficient and comfortable homes has long been a dilemma for architects, planners, conservation officers and home owners. We have developed the ‘Listed Cottage Range’ to resolve this for our customers. Available with a choice of glazing types: toughened, float (annealed) and obscure, the glass complies with Part L Building Regulations for England and Wales.
Other advantages of the ‘Listed Cottage Range’ include:
The smaller cavity, between the glasses, reduces the required glazing width rebates and enables slimmer sections to be used
Low-E (low-emmissivity) glass used for the inner pane reflects heat back into the room
Replacing one square metre of single glazing with low-E double glazing will give you a saving of up 90kg of carbon dioxide emissions per year by reducing heat loss, and, in turn, could save you money on energy bills
Listed Cottage Range comes with a locking system and antique handles.
Investment at Oaktree Joinery
We at Oaktree Joinery like to think of ourselves as pioneering ahead of the competition and leaving a huge wake in the seas of fellow joinery firms in the South West. By investing in the SCM Windor 20 series machine, we now pass numerous benefits on to our clients:
Cost-effective method for manufacturing windows one-off or in batches
Quicker turnaround times for customers’ orders
Manufacture to any size or design within our range
Modern or traditional handmade styles available.
Bring the beauty of your garden inside
If, like us, you spend much of your weekend tendering to your garden, it seems a shame not to make more of its beauty during the week. That’s why we have extended our door range to include a fashionable way of doing this, with the Vistafold type door.
Additionally, with the recent reduction in timber costs, it has become more and more in vogue to opt for a garden room over a traditional conservatory. This all makes the Vistafold doors an ever more popular way to bring the outside beauty of your garden to your home.
